It's sort of like "rewriting Twitter from scratch" while keeping it going, except this time you're rewriting not just with a different language, but a whole different paradigm, incentive structure, and topology. We know how most rewrites tend to turn out...

I think the best that can come out from them is a great new social protocol, which isn't actually used to rewrite Twitter, but ends up used to start new apps.
