@Cameron Leslie I remember reading about Hergé being actually influenced by Japanese artists when searching for a style (I believe settling on a style that would lead to good blockprinting was a priority). I need to refresh my knowledge about him as some of it might be just wishful thinking on my part.

I don't know how much of a fan you are of his work. It has problems like most of the works from that age, but one thing I really like is their attention to detail in the locations. Not graphical detail but fidelity to reality. Most of the locations displayed on the panels exist and were drawn from pictures, so depending on the location of the story, you can actually go to the same streets in Europe.
