the other day, was thinking about moderator, and looking at @cblgh website, and felt that programmers doing new things are artists whether or not they identify that way. the cursed phrase "intersection of art and technology" was kind of redundant. the software people make can be functional, or it can inspire other people, or be on a spectrum. even stuff which takes the form of functional lines of text, layers of the stack are just different mediums, the way its made, the ideas it plays with, the way its distributed, etc. its all part of it. temple os also comes to mind. and the origin of the name debian. google is a project about building an all-controlling all-knowing global super AI (ok, interesting, thanks)
also thinking about a friend working on an art project where they are collecting rocks from all over berlin to make it. the labor of collecting is part of the work. wouldn't be the same if they photoshopped it.
also the word art can also be limiting, but maybe it just gets at the sort of multi-dimensional aspect of things that goes beyond a singular functional purpose
