That's a cool image. I have a mini hourglass from a Scrabble set - I think it is around 4 minutes. I am using this program t to track hours in ledger timeclock format, and rounding to 15 minutes mostly when preparing for invoicing. Interestingly hledger also has a timedot format for quarter-hours. That one day I used third-hours since the total amount was a whole number and the sub-amounts were closer to ⅓+⅔ than ¼+¾. Otherwise thirds would be okay, although less granular than quarters, but if I combine quarters and thirds I get sixths or twelths which are a little harder to work with from a text encoding perspective.
