Re: %Ws9D2khzp

hey @jekrb, would love to! here we go... :smile_cat:

  • frequency: same time (Thursday evening at 6:30pm till almost midnight), same place (Dev Academy), every week!
  • content: no planned content. it's more about being a safe space to be creative on your personal projects amongst friendly people. everyone works independently towards their own personal goals, people talk amongst themselves and help each other, basically we all choose our own adventure while a few of us try to be conscious of holding space for the group. :sparkles:
  • setup: we all hang out together in an open space with a single table (or floor) so we all face each other, calm lighting (turn off the fluorescents!), and chill music. i usually come early to setup the space, create the vibe, ensure adequate table and power capacity, let people inside the space as they arrive, introduce and onboard any newbies, then later clean up at the end.
  • website: we use (gasp) a Facebook page to announce each week and anything else that comes up. check us out to see what we're up to.
  • sponsors: i can't be bothered to find sponsors, nor do i think it always adds value to a meetup, instead our attendees bring things to share with each other, we almost always go out to nearby restaurants and breweries for food and drinks to take back to the space. :beers:
  • mission: focus on building a thriving community of artists with healthy culture and sustained energy, in my opinion a meetup should be a safe space for people to spend their evenings with others while making progress towards their personal goals. personally i don't care for the typical meetup format of monthly talks, which is why i started meetup(s) with a different format.

(for more context, i used to organize NodeSchool Wellington in a similar format, which i wrote about here)!

here's us tonight!
