@dominic true it wouldn't be needed but there are social systems and kin networks (I think @Laniyuk was speaking about this at #scuttlecamp) where it is absolutlely needed that access to certain knowledge spaces are granted through a quorum.

Does the addition of a threshold scheme seem theoretically feasible?

@jfr that's an interesting point about people being able to side step the threshold invite scheme by running a pub with the network key and directly.

dominic - does that then mean to make that side channel access impossible there would need to be a change to the core code which means the cypherspace is encrypted with some combination of threshold access AND the network key?
