I can't believe so many of you are falling for this obvious, clumsy attempt at capitalist takeover. I expected you all to be internet-savvy enough to not trust the @onion.
I'm not quite ready to block the premium accounts yet, but I will stop interacting with them. And I encourage anybody else who wants to uphold the old scuttlebutt values to do the same (or even reach for that block
button).
As for why I'm not blocking: I still believe in the great potential of ssb, even though @Dominic has apparently turned evil. So I'll continue pushing forward discussions about protocol development, and I want everybody to able to read them. But blocking currently also means that pubs shouldn't forward my messages to the people I blocked. @queks and me are working on a proposal to change this, but it'll be another while. But once we've landed these more fine-grained controls over the social graph, I'm ready to block all the premium accounts.
Seeing this wave of corruption spread just after I got to know so many of these butts personally hurts a lot. I urge you to reconsider this path you've chosen. There's already plenty of #premium level content on ssb that speaks for itself and doesn't need a golden label.
