Loop Drop Live Stream: First attempt!
For those who don't know, besides hanging out on the scuttleweb and hacking on Patchwork, I also develop an open source music app for live performance called Loop Drop.
It is completely JavaScript based, powered by Web Audio and Electron.
BUT ANYWAY... For the longest time I have wanted to create some tutorial videos about how it works. But the problem is Loop Drop keeps changing. If I put the effort into making some videos, they'd be out of date a few months later. Also, I'm a perfectionist, so I'd never get them quite how I wanted them, and then never release.
So my "brilliant" plan was to live stream instead! I've been messing around with gear and stuff for the last month or so, trying to get my live stream setup perfect. Uh... so I thought in the spirit of live, I should stop doing that and just try streaming something.
So here you have it:

In the stream, I attempt to pull out parts of a song that I recorded with @Ben as #speakerhammer so that I can play it all by myself while I'm in London for the Web Audio conference later this month. I really wish @Ben would just come with me. Classic Ben....
Technical issues:
- microphone is way too quiet (so audio output from Loop Drop sounds way too loud... whoops)
- the video quality is pretty poor. This because it is a low bitrate 720p30 stream. Will try a different capture device that lets me do 1080p60 next time! (since my fibre should be able to handle it)
- uh... the live switching works surprisingly well. Shame about one camera dying midway
Self issues:
- I mumble too much!! But that might be related to the microphone problem (and classic kiwi accent)
- Wasn't too worried about the content being interesting as this was just a test. For a real stream, I'd probably plan it out a little more. I don't know though. How boring is this?
- Critique (and compliments...) very welcome!
