thinking about #extrasolar...

I'm so glad to have met people at Extrasolar, specially given that this was quite close to being cancelled (due to fears of stronger covid19 lockdowns), so it's not taken for granted that people came.

@hoodownr, a big thank you for organizing, in the midst of a thousand things going wrong, you made it happen. I get the feeling you believe in us often more than we believe in ourselves (speaking for myself at least). I'm thankful for your direct and compassionate communication, you tell people very direct things, but with the intent to encourage. Now I also admire your ability to meet people eye-to-eye and dig into their emotional state. That's precious. I hope you can find home once again in Finland and if there's anything I can do to support that, let me know.

@crowsnest, I think we bonded as musicians, at least that's what I felt. I think you have a really cool music studio apartment going on, and I'm looking forward to what other music you'll produce. I hope Extrasolar could give you energy and inspiration, not just in music but in other ways too.

@cblgh If I had to choose who would be my hotel room mate, I would have chosen you! But it wasn't my choice, you just happened to be assigned to my room. It was a long weekend together (maybe too long), so I appreciate your patience with me. I value that you care how everyone else is feeling and doing, and that you're able to take initiative to bond or rebond with others. Your trip took very long, and it almost was cancelled as well, so I know the cost this may have had in your daily life. So, thank you for that too, and I hope to see you again in the near future.

@Entropy_desktop, I don't need to publicly list all the things you supported us with, but it was a lot, and it was highly appreciated. Besides that, we spoke and shared a ton of ideas in the train and in Tornio, those were really good conversations. I enjoyed my weekend with you, and I hope you had a good time despite it taking longer than usual. I hope you made new friends too.

@cryptix, music is like another dimension in which people can interact, and I think through it I got to know a new aspect of you. You take care of people. I could see it in how you took care of Meghan and were gentle with her, but also in music, you made sure I had all I needed to do my thing. That's appreciated. Before I stepped in I actually took some time (15min?) to find good VSTs and samples that would match your music style. Keks told me you're a "Music Nazi", but you seemed much more open to experimentation than Keks made it sound like. In our technical talks I got a better glimpse of what goes on in your mind, and your motivations. I'm glad you didn't succumb to corona-border-fears, and I look forward to seeing you again. I don't know if Meghan is on SSB, but tell her I really appreciated her on-spot comments in one of the sessions (can't remember the name of the session), plus her fun and easy company.

@Hendrik Peter, it's visible that you have the desire to help. You host an SSB room for dozens of people, in Tornio you really tried to find me a USB-C charger when I was in the middle of a big Jitsi problem, you were always ready to quickly answer a need, and you didn't demand much in return. I'm looking forward to the things you'll build with the inspiration you got from this weekend.

@keks, so far I have seen you as "the serious man", but this weekend I saw your more playful side, and it makes me feel home. Keep on doing those bad jokes. Blind Dart 👌
