Looks like it's going to a second round, which will be messy, but the lead is now 47.94% vs 43.62%. Given Ciro Gomes is on the left and is at 3%, most of his votes will go to Lula, meaning he'll get a majority in the runoff. Even then, the final tally will be close enough that Bolsonaro's folks will be able to contest the results and cause mayhem.

I'm so fucking afraid. Also, they have the Senate so even if/when Lula win, doing anything will be extremely hard. And then four years later this nazi asshole will come back...

I got the first "the elections seem to be rigged" rumor sent to me by IM from a close relative. Sigh

My mother called my sister to swear at her saying that if it weren't for a handful of "idiots" like us, Bolsonaro would have won. Fascism isn't fully removed yet, but I'm super happy for this victory. I'm not very pro Lula, but anyone who is not far-right and not Bolsonaro is enough for me.

@andrestaltz, I haven't spoken to my parents yet. Think I'm gonna give it a couple days before calling in, I'm afraid of something similar. Last time my mom was here I heard things like "no regret for voting for Bolsonaro" and "you've been indoctrinated with comunism at the university" and shit like that.

My parents have always been right, but at least they have known from the start that Bozo is a psycho, and have switched to supporting their sworn enemies for the lack of alternative.

Yea, the left is dead, but I'd bet the movement towards the right has more to do with information wars then historical burnout, though that is used as a narrative by the far-right.

Although it was closer, I felt much less tense, as it became obvious how the outcome would be from early on.
