Voted Could we possibly use some of that new funding in the SSB ecosystem to fund

I sadly think it doesn’t really fit into our roadmap...

Come to think: how much of the handshake is unaccounted for? I also still have a bit of time on my hand until NGI starts and have been living on savings mostly...

who has availability & inclination for improving the social-style clients

cblgh I’d definitely be down. It’s just something I’m hesitant of working on on my own, If that makes any sense, the last time I worked on JS SSB (scuttle-shell) turned into a nightmare for me which is why I focused on the go code.

The blobs upload I can see myself doing on my own as it’s mostly data juggling and simple HTTP form stuff. For private messages, I know the required database stuff but am weary about the UI/UX aspects...

cc Christian Bundy I know he is pretty busy now with other work, though.

I wouldn't mind seeing private groups working in either oasis or patchwork :-)

cinnamon yup, agreed. I’ve built a few form validation and text processing flows in my time. Just re-fill the input values after the POST. Patchfoo does it like that as well. Mentions def fall neatly into that category too.

Hi all.

  • I'd be happy to move that money toward people doing work in the ecosystem.
  • I'm kinda burnt out on Oasis, and lots of the SSB stack in general.
  • I think I'd be most excited about paying maintainers for their continued attention (SSB-JS?) or paying people to fix underlying problems deep in the stack. I'm worried about the amount of time + energy it takes to keep adding layers and features without fixing the underlying stuff.
  • I'm happy to be a resource for some of this, but I'm unlikely to pour lots of time or energy into new features for Oasis. ❤

This is great news! ❤️

I think we should really go over the patchwork parity list and see what can be done and in which order. Because mentions and blobs + preview were two big missing items, and the rest seems... doable, from what I can see.
IMHO Oasis is very, very close to becoming the default SSB client, and I'd love to see that happen. 🙂
